We at Tri-Star Equities love to share true NY stories, like the one below, by Steve W.,   highlighting what living here in NYC is like  – This is from a former Board President, and resident of a small cooperative apartment building  in Soho, about his journey.

I was looking for an apartment and wanted to live in Soho, which was just beginning to be up and coming. In my mind, Soho began at the corner of MacDougal and West Houston so the first building I walked into was on MacDougal Street (there were no locks on the entrance then). I met an old Italian woman in the hallway and asked if any apartments were available. She said, “This building’s going co-op. Go talk to the sponsor. He’s in apartment 8.” He told me there were five units for sale. “If you’re interested, go take a look at them and tell me which one you want.” I chose #11 because of its light and size. He gave me the price and said, “Come back tomorrow with 25% down, and the apartment is yours.” And that’s how I bought this co-op

Really, it was that simple!

Little did I know I would spend the next four decades in our lovely building, many of those years serving on our Board as president. Over the years I have seen so many significant changes to the neighborhood and our building. And I’m so glad that in 2017, my wife, joined me here and loves it as much as I do.

For taking such good care of our co-op, I want to thank our managing company, Tri-Star Equities, – Paul Xuerub, Andrew Velik, Pauline Trim, Kaysie Mauro, and Gaynelle Accely;  and our current Board of Directors”

So as we leave, we have many feelings. We will miss you and our co-op very much!”
